The Knit It Felt It Zip It Bag might be small and quick to make, but it's long on the number of techniques you will use which include Fair Isle (stranded) knitting, felting, knitting in the round, and hand-sewing in a zipper. The complete instructions include step-by-step photographs and plenty of extra information in special sections on Knitting in the Fair Isle Way and Choosing Color Successfully. The pattern also features five bonus charts with before- and after-felting swatch photographs so you can create your own variations.

I used a worsted weight wool yarn for my bags. You MUST USE A WOOL OR WOOL BLEND YARN that is at least 85% wool for the bag to felt. Do not use a superwash yarn as it has been treated NOT TO FELT.

Skill Level: For beginners, especially those new to two-color knitting; includes 27 project photographs, 8 charts, 1 illustration, and detailed zipper tutorial.
Finished Sizes: About 6.5 (7.5, 8.5, 9.5)” (16.5 [19, 21.5, 24] cm) wide and 5 (6.5, 7.5, 8)” (12.5 [16.5, 19, 20.5] cm) high, after felting.

You will need circular needles 16 (16, 20, 24)" (40 [40, 50, 60] cm) in US sizes 9 (5.5 mm) and 7 (4.75 mm); stitch marker; tapestry needle; sewing pins; zipper at least 5" (12.5 cm) longer than finished bag width; about 1/4 yard (1/4 meters) lining fabric; sewing needle and matching thread.
